Email:
I am Prof. Dr. M. Azizur Rahman, a dedicated Bangladeshi academic, economist, and philanthropist, passionately committed to transforming education and research in Bangladesh. After obtaining my PhD in Economics from Vanderbilt University in 1988, I served as the Economic Advisor to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Dhaka from 1989 to 1997. In 2003, I established Uttara University through the Dr. M. Azizur Rahman Trust (DAR Trust), driven by a mission to deliver quality education to students who face financial hardships. As the university's first Vice-Chancellor, I played a pivotal role in crafting its vision as a leading research and higher education center. Beyond my academic pursuits, I founded Development Assistance & Trading (DAT) Ltd in 1999, a vertically integrated enterprise in the ready-made garment sector. Additionally, I have launched several educational institutions under the DAR Trust, significantly impacting Bangladesh's educational landscape.
